Curbing the Negative Effects of Significant Weight Loss with a Butt Lift
Men and women who have lost a significant amount of weight often feel a need to undergo a cosmetic procedure called a butt lift. A butt lift is the cosmetic procedure that gives shape to and contours the buttock area of the body.
After gastric bypass, people usually experience extreme weight loss, which leaves behind excess skin in areas such as the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. Surgeons often perform the butt lift procedure in conjunction with procedures to rid a body of excess skin in the other trouble spots as well.
Surgeons remove loose skin that is sagging from the buttocks during the first portion of the butt lift and then to accomplish a rounded look, the cosmetic surgeon can choose between two different procedures for the remainder of butt lift. Either the surgeon will use an implant for a butt lift or the surgeon will use a micro fat graft for a butt lift.
The micro fat grafting procedure is the more desirable procedure for a butt lift. The doctor performing the butt lift procedure uses liposuction to harvest the fat cells from the abdomen, hips, or thighs and inserts it evenly into the upper portion of the buttocks to achieve a nice rounded appearance. In order to use this procedure for a butt lift, the patient must have enough fat in the other areas from which to harvest.
If the patient does not have enough fat for the micro fat grafting procedure, the doctor will use the implant method for the butt lift. The surgeon uses semi solid implants that he inserts through one to two inch incisions to fill out the upper portion of the buttocks.
