He is one of Orange County’s top experts in the area of burn treatment and is currently on staff at the Grossman Burn Center in Santa Ana. Dr. Nguyen is also an expert in post-cancer reconstruction with special focus on skin cancer and post-masectomy reconstruction. Finally, he is committed to helping children who suffer from congenital facial deformities and he has performed hundreds of cleft lip and palate operations in the United States and throughout the world.

Dr. Thomas Thuan Nguyen is a well-respected Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is a graduate of Millsaps College Magna cum Laude. He received numerous additional awards and honors including Outstanding Pre-Med Student of the Year and Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities.
He pursued his post-graduate training at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Nguyen is board certified in General as wells as Plastic Surgery. His private practice located in Fountain Valley, California has been founded since 1999.
His dedication to burn care and research began during his fellowships at the National Institute of Health and the Sriner’s Burn Institute of Plastic Surgery at The Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Nguyen specialized in burn research and treatment. He has contributed significantly to the area of burn research with twenty-three published articles, nine book chapters and numerous presentations throughout the United States and Canada.
Recruited by The University of Southern California as an Assistant Professor of Surgery; Dr. Nguyen left his home state of Texas to Southern California. Dr. Nguyen became the Associate Director of the Los Angeles County and The University of Southern California Burn Center where he taught and continued his burn research.
Dr. Nguyen’s love of reconstructive surgery includes cancer reconstruction and post-bariatric surgery. He is greatly regarded for his surgical ability in reconstruction of skin cancers and breast cancer. Dr. Nguyen is an active member of the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital Tumor Board where he is consulted on post-cancer reconstruction. Dr. Nguyen, a member of the Fountain Valley Cancer Center Steering Committee, dedicates the continuous quality of care to provide cancer patients.
Additionally, Dr. Nguyen has a deep commitment and passion for helping children who suffer from congenital facial deformities. He has traveled the world with Operation Smile, visiting countries such as Vietnam and Israel to perform reconstructive surgeries on children with facial deformities. Because of the limitation and the unavailability of medical care and funding, children are given the opportunity to receive treatments by volunteers such as Dr. Nguyen.
Never losing his other passion with burn injuries, Dr. Nguyen brought on his talent and compassion to The Grossman Burn Center where he was a dedicated Director and team member. He assisted in thousands of surgical procedures for burn patient victims.
Dr. Nguyen continues to share his vision, compassion, expertise and devotion to those people in need. His desire, kindness and dedication continue to earn him great respect from his patients and his colleagues.
