Latisse

Overview

Until recently, most lush, thick, long eyelashes were the product of false lashes or other cosmetics. Before Latisse, there was no medical solution to increase the natural volume of eyelashes. However, this tested and proven, FDA approved product has provided a long awaited solution for people with thin or sparse lashes.

Latisse is clinically proven to grow lashes longer, fuller, and darker in as little as eight weeks. It is only available by prescription, but the product is used in the comfort of your own home. By adding one simple step to your nightly grooming routine, you can have the lashes of your dreams.

The procedure

There is no in-office procedure associated with Latisse, though you will need to visit us for an evaluation and consultation. Most patients with hypotrichosis (insufficient eyelashes) are good candidates. During your consultation, be sure to tell your doctor if you have a history of eye conditions, specifically problems with eye pressure, or if you are taking medication for such problems. While this does not necessarily mean that you are not a candidate, you will need to use the product under close physician supervision.

You will be provided with a prescription and complete instructions, which it is very important to follow. Latisse should be used nightly, as directed by your physician. The product should be applied with the provided sterile applicator, and only to the upper eyelid. Attempting to use Latisse on the lower lid may lead to unwanted hair growth outside of the treatment area. However, the formula should not be harmful if it gets in your eye, so there is no need to rinse if that happens.

Results

With nightly use, most patients notice visibly fuller, longer, and thicker eyelashes after just eight weeks. Full results develop in about twelve to sixteen weeks. The most common side effects are mild redness of the eyes or itching after applying Latisse. Less common side effects include eyelid darkening, which may be reversible, and an increase in brown pigment in the eyes, which is usually not reversible.

You can look forward to abundant, lush eyelashes with a darker, more noticeable color. You will no longer need false lashes to achieve the look you want. Many women say that they feel confident and proud of their appearances, even without wearing mascara. Continued daily use is necessary to maintain results.
