Fall in love with your curves with breast augmentation service - Huntington Beach, CA
There are many reasons that women in Huntington Beach, CA may seek breast augmentation services. Genetics, childbirth, or the natural aging process can all have an impact on the size and shape of a woman’s breasts. Regardless of the reason you are dissatisfied with your breast size, we can help. Breast augmentations from Orange County Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery Center helps our patients enhance their appearance and their self-confidence.

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentations are a type of plastic surgery that involves the placement of implants underneath the breast tissue to improve the size, shape, and lift of the breast. Implants can contain either silicone or saline, depending on the patient’s needs and preferences. Implants come in all sizes and shapes. During the consultation, our team can help you determine the size and shape that will work best for you, based on your desired outcome.

Candidates for breast augmentation

Breast augmentation in Huntington Beach, CA is a great option for women who are unhappy with the size or shape of their breasts. Augmentation can add fullness, enhance the shape, and create natural cleavage.

Breast augmentations are suitable for a wide age-range of women. We most often see women who have either completed their development and are unhappy with the shape or size of their breasts, or women who have gone through childbirth and breastfeeding and have lost volume or shape. For women who have sagging skin, breast augmentations can be combined with a lift for optimal results.

Choosing the right type of breast augmentation

Choosing the right type of breast augmentation - Huntington Beach, CA
Every breast augmentation procedure is highly customized. We work with our patients to determine which type of augmentation is the best for their body shape and goals. One of the first things we need to determine is size of the implant. When choosing the size, many patients find it difficult to visualize the results on their body. We allow patients to hold the different size implants and use photo galleries and 3-D imaging to help you envision what the augmentation outcome would look like on your body.

The next decision is where to place the incision. To determine which incision type is right for you, we need to consider your body anatomy, desired breast size, and personal preference. No matter which method you choose, we always strive to minimize scarring post-augmentation.

Two main types of breast augmentation are as follows:
  • Inframammary – Probably the most common type of augmentation, this procedure involves a small incision underneath the breast that is ultimately covered by the fold beneath the breast. This type of augmentation allows the doctor the best access to the breast for proper placement of the implant.

  • Periareolar – During this procedure, an incision is made around the areola, allowing for direct access to the interior of the breast. This type of augmentation allows the areola to be positioned more optimally and leaves minimal scarring.
The last decision to be made is the placement of the implant itself. Breast implants can be placed on top of (subglandular) or underneath (submuscular) the pectoral muscle.
  • Submuscular – This is the most common placement of implants because it tends to produce a more natural appearance on most body types. Because the incision must go through the muscle tissue, there may be more discomfort post-treatment with a submuscular placement.

  • Subglandular – This method places the implant above the pectoral muscle, making the implant more visible. This type of placement is not suitable for women with very small breasts. While the recovery may be more comfortable, subglandular implants can potentially interfere with mammograms.

Recovery from breast augmentation

After breast augmentation, patients will wear a surgical bra for comfort and support. Bruising and swelling are common side effects and will improve over time. Patients will also notice discomfort where the muscles are stretching around the implants. Muscle relaxers can help ease this discomfort. We will prescribe pain medicine to aid in the healing process. In most cases, patients can return to light physical activity within a week of the procedure.

If you are unhappy with your breasts, augmentation can help you become an improved version of yourself. If you are in the Huntington Beach area, and have questions about the procedure, call us today at (714) 421-4022 to schedule a consultation.
